Obtain Affiliate Window Information

Before you get started, please find out from Affiliate Window:

  • the Merchant Reference

We also advise that you are prepared with an idea of which trigger field you would like the Infinity data to be parsed to within Affiliate Window.

  • Select Save.

If you would like to see Affiliate data separated from other channels in the Portal, you might be interested in tagging the referring affiliate URLs. Here is more information about Marketing Channel Tagging

De-duplication

Affiliate Window issue guidance to help advertisers de-dupe their sales. This article outlines how Infinity implements those guidelines, helping you ensure that you only pay affiliates who have created a sale.

What is De-duplication?

De-duplication is the process of attributing a sale to one online marketing channel on predefined conditions, these conditions will decide which tracking tag is shown at the confirmation of sale page.

Why is De-duplication necessary?

Where an advertiser runs their programme on two networks, de-duplication is essential to prevent paying for the same sale twice.

This can occur when a customer has visited publisher sites from both networks, and ends up with two publisher network cookies on their computer.

Using automatic de-duplication, the advertiser only displays the tracking for the network that last referred the customer. Therefore, only one network receives notification of the sale, thus removing the need to decline duplicate sales manually at the validations stage.

How Does Infinity implement these guidelines?

Once you set up an Affiliate Window (AW) integration, Infinity looks for AW's click ID parameter ("awc=") on landing URLs and use that for two purposes:

  1. If the most recent landing contains an AW click ID then we set the AW channel to "aw", otherwise we set the AW channel to one of our channel types, such as "ppc", "seo", "cust". If the channel is unknown in Infinity then we set the AW channel to "na".

  2. We search back for the most recent AW click ID on any landing, not just the most recent one. If an AW click ID is available, we send that with the call data.

This allows AW to report on the performance of all AW clicks, and to optionally only pay commission on last click by checking the AW channel.

Clients do not need to append a "source=" parameter to landing URLs, as we will automatically set the Affiliate Window channel based on detection of the "awc=" parameter on the landing URL.

Points to Consider

  1. You can add an Affiliate channel to Infinity, to help segment traffic using the "awc=" tag (this doesn't affect the AW integration, only the reports in Infinity)

  2. You can send not only calls, but also your call ratings to AW, so that you could pay merchants commission from sales rather than from calls. We can send the actual transaction or goal value to AW so you can pay percentage commission rather than a fixed fee per call.
